Method
Bays = fence length ÷ post spacing, rounded up, and the bays are made equal. An open run has one more post than bays; a closed perimeter has as many. A post is the fence height plus its length below ground.
Posts and vertical bars are cut piece by piece: a stock bar yields “bar length ÷ piece length” pieces, rounded down. A rail runs the whole length, and each row takes “fence length ÷ bar length” bars, rounded up. Vertical bars split each bay so that no gap exceeds the figure entered.
Each section’s weight is the weight calculator’s: box from the box-section table, angle from the EN 10056 table, pipe from the wall formula (OD − wall) × wall × 0.02466. The weight shown is the standard weight of the whole bars bought.
The tool works out count and weight from the fence’s geometry. The section, the post spacing and the footing are the designer’s and the installer’s decision.

Weight per metre and per 6 m bar, by the tool’s own calculation.

| Box 50×50×2.5 | 3.84 | 23.04 |
| Box 60×60×3 | 5.54 | 33.24 |
| Box 80×80×3 | 7.44 | 44.64 |
| 1 1/2 in pipe, 2.5 wall | 2.824 | 16.94 |
| 2 in pipe, 2.5 wall | 3.563 | 21.38 |
| 2 in pipe, 3 wall | 4.239 | 25.43 |

| Angle 50×50×5 | 3.77 | 22.62 |
Divide the fence length by the post spacing and round up: those are the bays. Add one post on an open run; on a closed perimeter posts equal bays.
A 50 m fence, 2 m high, posts every 2.5 m with 50 cm below ground, has 21 posts of 2.5 m, cut from 11 bars of 6 m. Two rail rows take 18 bars. That is 29 bars; with 60×60×3 box posts and 40×40×2 box rails their standard weight is 630.24 kg.
Because posts and bars need whole pieces, and an offcut shorter than a piece yields none. The tool counts whole bars, which is what you order.
The fence’s designer or installer sets it from the height, the post spacing and the local wind. Pick that box, pipe or angle in the tool to get its weight and today’s price.
Pick the item from the “Product” list; the amount is shown at that product’s price today. “Add to cart” or “Proforma” records the line with the calculated weight, and an Ahantime expert calls to finalise the order.
